There's no single right answer, and anyone who tells you that you need a block of ten sessions straight away is probably selling something. How often you book depends on why you're coming, how you feel after your first treatment, and what fits your life and budget.
Start with one
Your first appointment is as much about finding out how your body responds as anything else. Notice how you feel that evening and over the next couple of days. Did you sleep well? Feel lighter? Calmer? That tells you far more than a generic schedule.
Three common patterns
The occasional reset
Some women book when they feel they need it: after a stressful stretch at work, after travelling, or before a big occasion. There's nothing wrong with that at all.
A monthly ritual
This is the pattern I see most often, and the one I'd suggest for most people who enjoy the treatment. Once a month is enough to feel like a regular part of your self-care without becoming a chore or a strain on your budget. It also fits neatly with how I work: I treat three days each month in Llandudno, so a monthly appointment is easy to keep.
A few closer together, then maintain
Some clients like to book two or three appointments a few weeks apart at the start, then settle into monthly. If that appeals, just mention it when you send your booking request and I'll try to space your dates sensibly.
What about clinical lymphatic drainage?
You may read online about daily or several-times-a-week sessions. That usually refers to intensive clinical programmes for medically diagnosed lymphoedema, run by specialist therapists. It isn't relevant to a wellbeing treatment, and if you think you may need that kind of care, your GP is the place to start.
Make each treatment go further
What you do between appointments matters just as much as how often you come. Your lymphatic system relies on movement and breathing every single day. Gentle walking, a few minutes of deep breathing, staying hydrated and not sitting for hours without a break all help you feel your best. I've written about simple daily habits here.
Listen to your body
If you feel great for weeks after a session, you may not need to come often. If you notice you start to feel heavy and tense again after a fortnight, you might prefer a closer rhythm. There's no pressure either way, and I'll never push packages or courses.
